The Sinethemba Community Organization was registered as a non - profit organization (NPO 042 735) in 2005. Through grass-roots involvement and transformation leadership, Sinethemba contributes to lasting change in Khayelitsha. For more than five years now, Sinethemba has encouraged members of the Harare community to participate in uplifting their own community.

Sinethemba was founded by Nolitha Ndalasi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Together with her husband Mninawe, they have started and managed a number of community development projects such as: neighborhood patrols, a community garden, a soup kitchen feeding youth affected by HIV & AIDS. In parallel, a crisis support group was initiated for abused women and in 2007 the Silulutho Youth Program was launched. Sinethemba generates income through intercultural learning projects, crafts sale and community catering services.

Sinethemba has been receiving donations from private individuals, NGO's and some funding from government sources. Community members as well as friends and supporters donate their time and knowledge and in-kind contribution.

In September 2009 Sinethemba was awarded funding by the US Consulate PEPFAR project HIV/Aids community support services.
